This role is based within the newly created PVC (Education) portfolio. The Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC), Education, is responsible for providing strategic vision, leadership, and oversight of the development and implementation of the university's approach to education that delivers outstanding learning experiences, and leads UNSW’s Education Portfolio to drive educational excellence. The PVC plays a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the quality, innovation, and effectiveness of the university's educational offerings.

Why your Role Matters

As the Executive Assistant you will perform an integral role within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education portfolio providing critical high-level executive support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education, Executive Officer and the portfolio Directorate.

This is a dynamic position expected to demonstrate a high level of executive support skill, independence, accountability and use of digital technologies and platforms in effectively and efficiently supporting the PVCE and senior staff in the coordination and management of meetings and the formulation of documents and reports required. The role is expected to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times, interpret circumstances, make judgments about priorities and coordinate and contribute to projects/initiatives as assigned. The role will be required to work flexible hours aligned with the needs of the PVCE.

Who you are: 

You will hold existing executive support experience alongside:

  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of executive support services to staff of similar seniority within a large and complex organisation.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, accuracy and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Advanced communication skills, including demonstrated experience in taking minutes, drafting, proofreading and editing official communications, (reports, briefings, presentations) and the ability to research and analyse material and summarise key issues.
  • Strong service orientation and “client” focus, together with high-level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive and professional relationships with staff at all levels and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications and databases, educational technologies and digital platforms.
