BuildSkills Australia is an Australian Jobs and Skills Council (JSC) and the voice of the building, construction, property, civil infrastructure and water sectors. Providing independent advice on current, emerging, and future workforce, skills, and vocational training needs, BuildSkills Australia works with employers, unions, state and territory governments, and education and training providers to improve skills development, employment opportunities and economic growth.
The Executive Director – Corporate Services reports to the CEO and will support with developing and presenting material for consideration by the Board. The role has multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure that shared services support the efficient and effective delivery of BuildSkills’ outcomes. This key leadership position will play a key role in establishing and building the business. The role will provide leadership and direction internally and to external corporate service providers.
Specific accountabilities include:
- Lead the establishment of the organisation’s operating model, facilitating input and feedback from the CEO and other Executive Directors.
- Implement key organisational policies and processes in key corporate functions (e.g. HR, IT, Legal), reviewing and adapting to meet changing organisational needs.
- Working closely with external advisers and suppliers, oversee financial planning, financial reporting, and resource allocation for the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and manage revenue and expenditure, ensuring financial sustainability of services.
- Engage with the CEO, Board and Executive to provide regular updates and ensure alignment with the organisation’s strategic direction.
- Provide strategic advice to the business based on the corporate functions’ priorities, performance, and challenges.
- Design, influence and maintain a robust corporate governance, risk management & compliance framework for the company, taking a lead role in the Work Health and Safety culture.
Your ability to understand key business drivers and translate these into sound commercial decisions in a similar environment or related industry will be highly regarded. Finally, it goes without saying that you will be skilled in inspiring individuals and teams in the pursuit of results.
