Here at the NSW Reconstruction Authority, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to serve as our Executive Director of Recovery. In this pivotal role, you will lead our organisation's efforts to support NSW communities in their recovery journey following disasters.

As the Executive Director Recovery, you will:

• provide strategic leadership and direction to our recovery strategies, plans and policies.
• forge strong partnerships with local and state governments, NGO's, and community groups to ensure effective recovery programs are in place before disasters occur.
• ensure a consistent, evidence-based approach to disaster declarations and assistance measures activation.
• coordinate multi-agency recovery efforts on the ground post-initial response phase.
• hold accountability for recovery program outcomes, efficient spending, and administration, ensuring the highest standards of performance across NSW government agencies.

Please note: Interviews and assessments for this role will not commence until late May.

About You

We are looking for an executive who

• brings valuable insights from working with NGO's and councils, with a deep understanding of their dynamics and operations.
• has experience that extends beyond bureaucracy, you've been on the ground, actively delivering programs and solutions, ensuring swift implementation when needed.
• demonstrates experience adeptly navigating diverse stakeholder interests, fostering meaningful relationships and driving consensus to ensure effective disaster preparedness and recovery programs and initiatives.
• possesses a comprehensive understanding of different levels of governments, navigating their complexities and processes with ease.
• is a natural collaborator and problem solver, managing complex relationships and leading teams through uncertain and changing environments.
• approaches challenges systematically, relying on evidence based-insights to inform decisions and drive results.

The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster.

To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the NSW Reconstruction Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses and government.
