The Illawarra Basketball Association is seeking application from experienced sports General Managers or business leaders that are passionate about building and promoting Community Sport.
The Illawarra Basketball Association is looking for a dynamic leader that has a comprehensive understanding of community and school sport environments. You must be someone that is able to build and maintain quality relationships with a variety of stakeholders including members, officials, coaches, volunteers, schools and the broader sporting community of the Illawarra as well as state and federal basketball bodies.
Reporting to the Illawarra Basketball Board President the Executive General Manager - Illawarra Basketball Association, will drive growth and development of the Illawarra Basketball Association’s operational strategy and be responsible for its implementation through inspired and courageous leadership including the following key responsibility areas: * Participation - Conceptualise, design and implement programs and pathways to grow basketball participation in the Illawarra
- Increased income - Through seeking appropriate sponsorship, grants and funding.
- Sustainability - identification and implementation of strategic vision, increased commercial presence, sponsorship initiation and delivery, grants and funding, increased participation.
- Leadership and Business Acumen - Lead, manage and build workforce capability to support operational success effectively and efficiently through the provisions of conflict resolution, negotiation, presentation, financial, and business skills
- Diversity and Inclusion - Develop and implement programs, initiatives, and advisory support to ensure Illawarra basketball embraces diversity and is an inclusive sport for all.
- Workforce - Strengthen the recruitment, development and accreditation of paid staff, coaches, officials and volunteers.
- Delivery Capability - Deliver initiatives, tools and technology which builds the capacity, capability and sustainability of Illawarra Basketball.
- Access - Improve access by growing the number of places, spaces and infrastructure where basketball in the Illawarra can be delivered.
About You
As the Executive General Manager - Illawarra Basketball Association, you must be goal orientated and have a true vison for the Associations future.
As the Executive General Manager, you will review and implement long term strategic plans, workforce development and participation initiatives, policies and procedures, budgets and deliver on growth initiatives. You will be a true sport management professional who has demonstrated an ability to develop strong professional relationships and relates to people at all levels of sport and community.
You will have the ability to manage competing priorities and activities with the commercial nous to plan, coordinate and drive the implementation of projects and initiatives that are on time, on budget and meet strategic targets.
You are a dynamic leader, with the ability to inspire and enable staff, your work will directly contribute the growth and sustainability of the Illawarra Basketball Association, and the vision of being a leading sports organisation, respected for transforming lives through basketball.
To be successful in this role, you will be tertiary qualified and/or have demonstrated success in a senior sport or club development roles that have achieved increased capacity for participation, sponsorship, funding and member development.
