Evolving to meet the community need since 1988, Youth Futures is one of WA’s oldest and largest youth specialist organisations currently providing over 30 programs and services across three core areas: Homelessness, Education and Training, Support and Wellbeing.

Since 2001 we have been delivering appropriate education programs for disengaged and at-risk young people through our Anchor Point program and Youth Futures Community Schools.

The Role
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from Trainers to work 38 hours per week to support and engage with young people attending our programs.
Our education programs and schools are designed to re-engage and support students who have had difficulty in attending mainstream education. Our goal is to ensure that students achieve relevant education certificates and possess the personal and social skills required to progress, be that TAFE, employment, training or an apprenticeship.
The main educational focus will be around functional literacy and numeracy as required in the Certificate of General Education Adults (CGEA):
- Certificate of General Education I
- Certificate of General Education II
- Certificate of General Education III
There may be scope to contribute to and deliver other areas of the curriculum as required. Expert engagement skills, development of learning materials and the delivery of CGEA I,II,III packages will be paramount to your success in this role. All CGEA resources and learning material is prepared by our Registered Training Organisation, Futures Education and Training RTO: 52833

We are looking for someone who:
- Has the relevant knowledge and skills to tailor programs for disengaged young people.
- Has experience working with young people who have become disengaged from mainstream education and possess significant barriers preventing re-engagement.
- Can demonstrate their ability to engage and work with at-risk students who may present some challenging behaviours.
- Is passionate about re-engaging students through the fostering of positive and professional relationships.
- Is experienced in delivering curriculum support to students with low numeracy and literacy levels.
- Will ensure their practice is consistent with cultural, gender, developmental and other individual needs.
- Has highly developed communication skills.
Essential Qualifications
- AQF Level 7 or above teaching/training qualification, or the CGEA III, or a formal relevant qualification that demonstrates knowledge of the theory of literacy and numeracy development and its application.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 and the units TAELLN411/TAELLN411A and TAEASS502/TAEASS502A/TAEASS502B (Current).
- Vaccination certificate/s as required under current government mandates or certified exemptions, where applicable.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Valid National Police Clearance.
- Valid Working with Children's Check.
- Current 'C' class WA driver's licence.

Work Conditions
- Monday - Friday

- Students attend Mondays-Thursdays

The base rate for this position depending on qualifications and experience is $72,000 to $83,000 per annum, plus 10% superannuation, in addition to your remuneration, you will enjoy generous salary packaging benefits where you can package up to $15,900 tax free per annum.
