HBT Services QLD is responsible for the overhauls of longwall machinery across QLD and operates under two (2) plants, being Overhauls and Gearbox repairs.
Position purpose:
The Fabrication Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the fabrication processes within our overhaul facility. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and organisational skills to ensure that production targets are met efficiently while maintaining quality standards and safety protocols.
The position of Fabrication Supervisor will be responsible for:
- Direct supervision of leading hands, boilermakers, apprentices and TA’s to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with managers and other supervisors to develop and implement production schedules and workflows, ensuring efficient utilisation of resources and timely completion of orders.
- Enforce quality control measures and inspect fabricated components to ensure compliance with specifications and standards, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure availability of materials and equipment required for fabrication processes, optimising inventory levels, and minimising downtime.
- Promote a culture of safety within the fabrication department, enforcing safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries, and conducting regular safety audits.
- Identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency improvements, implementing changes and best practices to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including inventory levels, production outputs, and quality control data, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication within the fabrication team and across departments, providing updates on production progress, resolving issues, and addressing any concerns or feedback.
- Reviewing the scope of work for project tenders to ensure there are adequate labour allowances.

- Trade Qualified Boilermaker.
- HRWL is highly desirable.

Previous Knowledge & Experience:
- Proven experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, with at least some experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong technical knowledge of fabrication processes and equipment, including welding, machining, and assembly.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve production goals.
- Solid understanding of quality control principles and practices, with experience in implementing quality management systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office and manufacturing software systems for production planning and inventory management.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
