UQ Residences has been established as a controlled entity of the University of Queensland to operate all accommodation owned by the University, including purpose-built student accommodation, UQ Residential Houses and Halls of Residence at our Gatton Campus, offering best-practice student care and well-being that will set a benchmark for university student housing. The newest offering in UQ’s accommodation portfolio is Kev Carmody House at St Lucia, which delivers quality, value for money, self-catered accommodation for students. The architect-designed facility will support academic success and quality lifestyle, with 24-hour pastoral care and security. With 610 beds Kev Carmody House is of high quality and competitively priced to encourage the enrolment of a diverse cohort of students, including those from less advantaged backgrounds and from rural and remote areas. Integration with other services on campus will provide a seamless experience for students and will help them to adjust to university life. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Support the operational control of UQ Res. Coordinate property maintenance and repairs to maintain a safe, clean, and productive environment for the customers and staff.

DUTIES
• Support the delivery of maintenance, including preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Provide support to execute maintenance programs. 
• Assist with the development and ongoing improvement including roll out of operating procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of maintenance schedules and coordinate the delivery of site audits.
• Effectively oversee and manage building annual fire certification reviews.
• Oversight of all service contracts and project management and supervision of key contractor projects.
• Provide preventative and reactive maintenance services as required.
• Assisting in the review and updating of building risk assessments and action plans. 
• Plan and coordinate all installations and refurbishments.
• Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.
• Inspect building structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
• Review utilities consumption and strive to minimise costs.
• Oversee the Facilities Officers and external contractors and supervise all staff facilities.
• Control activities like waste disposal, building security etc.
• Coordinate maintenance including liaising with customers in line with Residential Tenancies Authority requirements and issuing entry notices.

ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
• The position will work across UQ Res and will report to the General Manager
Selection Criteria

ESSENTIAL
• Experience working in site operations in a customer services-based business.
• Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices
• Experience in implementation and on-going management of asset management tools
• Ability to undertake multiple varied tasks with a minimum of direct supervision.
• Proven experience in leading a team, providing best in class customer service.
• Excellent communication, presentation, organisation skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

DESIRABLE
• Experience working in hospitality, accommodation, services, hotel, retail industry.
• Formal qualification in facilities management and/or health and safety
• A trades background or relevant tertiary qualification
• Experience using Star Rez (Accommodation Booking System)
