Hours: Between 8:00am and 5:00pm (max 76 hours per fortnight)
Pay rate: $50.00 per hour + super

About the Position: Our client is looking for a Facilities Operations Officer to assist the Coordinator Building & Facilities Operations in the effective and efficient supervision of contractors and supervise minor capital works projects as required, to ensure Building Assets are maintained in accordance with the Asset Management Plan and that organisational and customer outcomes are achieved.
Duties:
- Supervise and review maintenance work on Council’s building assets to ensure organisational and contractual targets and standards are being achieved and take appropriate remedial action if required
- Carry out minor maintenance duties in order to restore and maintain the standard of Council buildings and assets, as required
- Carry out programmed maintenance activities, including incidental street sign and parking sign maintenance, as required.
- Organise quotations and arrange for sub-contractors to carry out specific maintenance work and arrange access to Council facilities as necessary
- Monitor compliance by contractors through regular inspections and audits to ensure Contract Guidelines and Specifications are being met and performance targets are being achieved, dealing with minor breaches and referring major issues to the Coordinator Building & Facilities Operations
About You:
The successful candidate will be competent to supervise and review maintenance work on building assets to ensure organisational and contractual targets and standards are being achieved and take appropriate remedial action if required.
You may have 'on the tools' experience, a trade, supervisory or a maintenance background, and can be relied on for a 'quick fix' if a trade/contractor is not required for a big job.
Essential:
- Possession of an appropriate building qualification in Builder’s Registration, Building Supervision or Building Construction, or a recognised equivalent
- Previous relevant experience within the building industry and in particular, building maintenance
- Previous exposure to project management within the building sector
- Good knowledge and understanding of the Work Health and Safety requirements, relevant for this position
- Demonstrate good interpersonal, prioritisation, initiative, teamwork, computer and admin skills
- Ability to acquire the appropriate legislative endorsements e.g. Construction Induction – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card) in combination with a good understanding of the Work Occupational Health and Safety requirements relevant to this position
