Your new role
In a 3-month temporary assignment as a lawyer within the specialised legal team, you will be instrumental in providing expert legal advice and support to a broad range of stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include navigating legal issues in areas such as duty of care, family law, intervention orders, child protection, privacy, and information sharing. Additionally, you will handle proceedings, inquiries, and investigations, offering crucial legal insights that influence policy and departmental strategy.- Delivering authoritative and practical legal advice in a timely manner to various clients across the sector, including managing complex cases and inquiries.
- Conducting thorough legal research and analysis to support the department's strategic initiatives and responses to legal challenges.
- Drafting, reviewing, and managing a wide range of legal documents, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
- Playing a pivotal role in the development and refinement of departmental policies and practices.
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you will need:- Essential qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Law and admission to practice in the state (or the ability to be admitted immediately).
- A strong foundation in relevant legal fields, evidenced by your ability to provide comprehensive advice on a variety of complex legal matters.
- Excellent organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.
- Superior written communication skills, capable of producing clear, concise, and effective legal documentation and advice.
- Proficient stakeholder management capabilities, with experience in engaging constructively with a diverse range of internal and external parties.
