3-Month Temp Assignment | Family Lawyer | State Government

Your new company

Join a pivotal state government department focused on fostering lifelong learning, healthy development, and strengthening families across a diverse and growing community. This department is committed to ensuring that all citizens have the opportunity to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy, and healthy lives through comprehensive support.

Your new role

In a 3-month temporary assignment as a lawyer within the specialised legal team, you will be instrumental in providing expert legal advice and support to a broad range of stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include navigating legal issues in areas such as duty of care, family law, intervention orders, child protection, privacy, and information sharing. Additionally, you will handle proceedings, inquiries, and investigations, offering crucial legal insights that influence policy and departmental strategy.
  • Delivering authoritative and practical legal advice in a timely manner to various clients across the sector, including managing complex cases and inquiries.
  • Conducting thorough legal research and analysis to support the department's strategic initiatives and responses to legal challenges.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and managing a wide range of legal documents, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
  • Playing a pivotal role in the development and refinement of departmental policies and practices.

What you'll need to succeed

To excel in this role, you will need:
  • Essential qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Law and admission to practice in the state (or the ability to be admitted immediately).
  • A strong foundation in relevant legal fields, evidenced by your ability to provide comprehensive advice on a variety of complex legal matters.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.
  • Superior written communication skills, capable of producing clear, concise, and effective legal documentation and advice.
  • Proficient stakeholder management capabilities, with experience in engaging constructively with a diverse range of internal and external parties.

What you'll get in return
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the shaping of policies and practices within a key government department. You will be part of a dynamic and supportive team environment, where innovation and collaboration are encouraged. In addition to professional growth, you will benefit from being part of an organisation that values its employees and is dedicated to their development and well-being.
