With approx. 1,500 Ha and 5 km’s of Lachlan River frontage you will have the independence to run the day-to-day operations of this wool and lamb producing property (8,000 DSE). But you will also have the backup and resources of a professionally owned multi-site family operation.
The highly dedicated and caring owners are now looking for a self-reliant Farm Manager or experienced overseer wanting the step-up to take management of this substantial high-producing grazing holding in the reliable Southern Tablelands, comprising basalt hills and alluvial river flats.
You will enjoy working on your own and be challenged and learn to push the boundaries of production to extract the best industry results.
Working improvements include a six-stand shearing shed, sheep yards, cattle yards and a hay/machinery shed.
The role is hands on and requires a motivated person who displays initiative, a good work ethic, and ability to work autonomously. Time management, good communication skills and working dogs are essential.
There will be periods where you will be required to travel and work as part of a bigger team for major seasonal tasks such as shearing, drenching, lamb marking or classing on other family sheep properties in the Southern Tablelands. Likewise this team also comes to you.
Key Responsibilities
- Regular reporting and communication with General Manager
- Hands on day-to-day management of animal welfare and livestock production program.
- Reporting and use of AgriWebb; adherence to lifetime ewe management program.
- Arrange/liaise with contract staff and manage seasonal tasks such as shearing, drenching, scanning etc.
- Pasture improvement and chemical application for weed control.
- Fencing & property maintenance and improvement
- Mechanical repairs and welding.
- Previous overseer or management experience in a sheep & wool enterprise (essential).
- Own working dogs (essential).
- General farm maintenance skills incl. proficient operation and maintenance of farm machinery and motorbikes.
- Ability to work unsupervised and show initiative
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Drivers and HR licence (preferred)
- Gun Licence (preferred)
