An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and highly motivated Farm (Property) Manager to join our team managing the Maranoa Aggregation in Southwest Queensland.
As the Farm (Property) Manager, you will be responsible for the daily operational management to achieve maximum sustainable production and profitability. This position reports to the General Manager. The primary focus of this aggregation is to breed and grow northern females along with the management of a newly developed bull breeding program to supply the extensive operations breeding program with adoption of best practice breeding and genomics evaluation.
Property Description:
The aggregation consists of 3 properties (36,000 hectares) and are located within 100km of Roma and less than 400km from Toowoomba. This position presents a diverse opportunity for an individual or management couple to grow and develop further skills in alignment to the strategic goals of the business.
To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Hands on experience in property management, including operations and business management.
- Experience leading and managing workers, including staff and contractors.
- The ability to capture and manage accurate data for business forecasting and budgeting.
- Demonstration of best practice animal welfare management.
- The capacity to provide on time and accurate business reporting.
- Proven experience in meeting month-end business deadlines.
- Competence in the execution of best practice livestock practice aligning to the operational plan.
- Understanding of sustainable grazing practices.
- The ability to communicate clear recommendations for continuous improvement activities.
- Responsibility for the care, maintenance and profitable use of all vehicles, farm equipment and fixed assets on the property.
- Prior involvement in the development of the annual business plans, including capital development budgets and ensuring operations are managed within the confines of those approved budgets.
- Experience in developing a culture of health and safety and leading by example.
- Adherence to business processes.
The ideal candidate will possess the following credentials:
- Possess sound business skills and principles, and the discipline to execute to budget and timelines.
- Tertiary qualification in Agriculture or Business Management is well regarded but not essential.
- Experience in property management on a medium to large property as the Manager or Senior Manager.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Beef Cattle production.
- Strong communication skills for clear reporting.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Self-starter and motivated, with ability to work to deadlines.
- Strong team orientation and a preparedness to work with and through others to achieve results.
- Current drivers’ licence.
