FEMALE PCA/Support Worker - WALPA | Bairnsdale, VIC

Provide High-Intensity Personal Care and Support to a young female adult with an ABI, and high support special needs, in the family home and community.

Duties include:

• Personal Care - nappy care, dressing, showering.
• Transporting client and completing hydrotherapy/swimming at a local pool.
• Preparing and feeding of meals and snacks.
• To actively find & participate in alternate home activities, i.e. - cooking, and arts/crafts.
• Some light household duties involving client.
• Complete minimal approved indoor/outdoor exercise/physiotherapy.
• Transporting client and attending community events
• Able to provide imaginative and entertaining times for a mainly non-verbal special needs client and being rewarded with the knowledge of making a limited skills client fulfill an enjoyable life.
• The client is partially mobile, but her wheelchair is required for long distance.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS - Female applicants only. 

Looking for an outgoing, affectionate, committed, assertive, healthy and reliable female; must have a high standard of cleanliness & hygiene & respect for the client & the family home; must be able to adhere to a routine and take direction, and work at the client's pace.

Must have worked one-on-one with clients in their home environment, as this is an individual program for the client. Must have extensive personal care experience.

Experience and understanding of working with disabled youth & working with children; Experience with manual handling and transfers. Some water safety and hydrotherapy experience is preferable.

• The position is for 9 hours/day, 3 days/week - Monday, Wednesday & Friday - 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. (Hours may be extended or earlier and have some flexibility).
• NDIS Rates - High Intensity Support $70.85/hour.
• Travel/mileage costs for activities.
• Certificate in Disability Care or equivalent
• ABN required.
• Excellent English speaking/Communication skills/reading, (English first language)
• Own Roadworthy Vehicle and current Australian Driver's Licence. Vehicle must be easily accessible for client (low vehicles only) and able to carry wheelchair.
• Police Check & WWCC
• Preference to be registered with the 'NDIS worker screening database'.
