About the Role

As a Financial Analyst at Santos, you'll work closely with the Finance Manager – Group Financial Reporting, contributing to essential tasks including internal management reporting, external financial statutory reporting, ASX Financial Reporting, treasury accounting, and month-end corporate group analysis.
Key Accountabilities:
- Month End Reporting (Treasury)
- Prepare month end journal entries and reconciliations in relation to the activities of the treasury department
- Assist with the implementation of hedge documentation for new hedges
- Provide analysis and budget inputs for Group and Treasury reporting
- Assist with the analysis and management of intercompany relationships
- Develop a work knowledge of AASB 9 Financial Instruments as it relates to Santos
- Annual and Half Year Financial Statements
- Assist with preparation of full-year and half-year Group Financial Statements
- Assist with the preparation of Santos Finance Limited annual financial statements
- Prepare, analyse and review note disclosures to the financial statements as allocated with primary focus on the Financial Risk and Interest-Bearing loans disclosures
- Critically analyse and investigate anomalies in group reporting as requested
- Contributing to the preparation of audit and risk committee and board papers
- Assisting with preparation and finalisation of Subsidiary financial accounts

- As part of the broader team role, assist in developing/providing accounting training to finance staff in line with the Accounting Policy Manual
- Involvement in ad-hoc technical accounting advice or review of accounting transactions for the wider Santos community, as directed by the Finance Manager – Group Financial Reporting
- Involvement, participation and collaboration in other ad-hoc projects as directed by the Finance Manager – Group Financial Reporting
About you
Holding a Bachelors Degree with an Accounting major, along with Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia, or equivalent, the ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in Accounting with exposure to large organisations, either through direct employment, or through the audit division of a chartered accounting firm. A sound knowledge of Accounting Standards, proven experience in report writing and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint are also essential for this role.
This role will suit candidates with a Finance background in ‘Big 4’, Corporate Energy, or Finance Authority/ Banking & Finance, who are looking to learn and develop in a fast-paced but supportive environment.
