Finance Assistant

The Company

The organisation are located centrally in Melbourne in the heart of the CBD and with easy access to major public transport links. The business is growing and this position is a new one within the current finance structure. Very stable and progressive employer who offer full training and scope for growth. They also offer the last Friday of every month as an additional holiday as well as hybrid working flexibility at all times.

The Role

This role will commence initially on a contracting basis at the end of March, but we are looking for applicants with long term working rights who can transition onto a permanent contract after some initial months in the role

Hybrid working is on offer with 2 days each week able to be worked at home.

As Finance Assistant, you will report to the Finance Director APAC and support the finance team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation's finances. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely records, building strong relationships internally and externally, and ensuring the efficiency of all financial processes. As part of your role is supplier facing, you will be required to ensure a professional manner is conducted in all instances. You will report to the senior team at every juncture to manage and meet the expectations of the team.

Some regular tasks will include:

• Keeping bank reconciliations accurate and up to date.
• Administering the forecast and invoicing targets, communicating trends with the relevant team members.
• Processing, tracking and monitoring of client purchase orders and invoicing.
• Managing credit control, the issuance of client statements, and various client invoicing portals.
• Bringing financial clarity to the weekly billings meeting with the client service team. Review how projects are tracking against fees and highlight overspends or any other housekeeping issues.
• Ensuring all client invoices are compliant, accurate, and paid on time.
• Checking and processing purchase invoices, credit card recs and employee expenses for reimbursement, checking against client's budget allocation, ensuring they are compliant with ATO and HR policies.
• Ensuring cash flow is being managed and payment terms are being met.
• Ensuring all documentation is audit compliant.
• Attending to internal and external queries in a timely and professional manner.

This is a full time position with hours worked Monday - Friday. Full training will be provided.

Your Profile

You will have a background in accounting with a minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar position. The following attributes will also be highly advantageous:

• Strong exposure to accounts payable, receivable and general ledger
• Good energy and desire to learn
• Happy to work in the CBD
• Excellent communication skills
• Comfortable picking up new systems
• Comfortable with manual processing
• Long term working rights
• Able to start quickly if successful
