Key Purpose:
As a Finance Business Partner at Serco, you will play a critical role in providing commercial and financial decision support to our business leaders. Your insights and recommendations will help drive profitable growth, improve shareholder value, and ensure the financial success of our contracts and services.
Key Accountabilities:
- Act as a trusted, visible, and accessible point of contact for business leaders, providing commercial and financial decision support.
- Challenge assumptions and provide insights into business profitability to drive future performance.
- Understand customer landscapes and their drivers to offer contract/service pricing, cash, and margin optimization recommendations, balancing risk and return.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial records, compliance, business financial plans, and forecasts.
- Guide contract/service performance through ROI analysis, scenario planning, KPI analysis, and benchmarking.
- Support portfolio strategy with market, competitor, and portfolio analysis; inform market entry and exit decisions.
- Provide challenge and decision support for organic growth and new business opportunities.
- Develop customer relationships to support successful commercial and financial negotiations.
- Identify over and under delivery of contractual obligations, perform root cause analysis, and make recommendations.
- Drive contract/service cost optimization projects through profitability analysis and efficiency recommendations.
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage financial and commercial risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Champion the Finance Operating Model as part of a virtual team with the business, Centre of Excellence, and Group Finance.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
- Must hold an appropriate professional qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, or equivalent) or be qualified by experience.
- Current membership in a relevant professional body (where applicable).
- Proven track record of collaborating with business leaders in a complex environment.
- Experience in a commercially oriented bidding and contracting environment.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of key financial and non-financial business value drivers.
- Ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts with key decision-makers.
- Innovative problem-solving skills with a focus on practical solutions and execution.
- Ability to interpret and deal with incomplete data, exercising judgment in ambiguity.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working successfully in a virtual team.
- Demonstrates diligence, integrity, and personal gravitas
