Our client, a leading Australian sporting body, is looking for a Finance Business Partner to join their team on an initial 6-month fixed term contract (extension likely), in Melbourne. You will manage the budget and report the finances of a large scale IT Transformation project, working closely with the Financial Controller, CFO and other senior stakeholders.
Key Deliverables:
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models to track project costs, forecasts, and budgets.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making related to IT investments and resource allocations.
- Monitor project expenditures against budgetary constraints and identify areas for cost optimization or efficiency improvements.
- Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to develop project budgets and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
- Monitor budget variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare regular financial reports and presentations for senior management to communicate project financial performance and potential risks.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and project teams, providing financial expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders across finance, IT, and other functional areas to facilitate collaboration and alignment.
Key Skills Required:
- 5+ Years experience in similar positions.
- Must have demonstrated working history tracking budgets on IT-related projects (ideally transformation projects).
- Proficiency in financial modelling, variance analysis, and cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the financial implications of IT initiatives and make informed decisions.
- Ability to develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, as well as forecast financial performance to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with cross-functional teams, communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders, and facilitate collaboration between finance and IT departments.
- Strong ability to "story-tell" financial budgets and reports to a wide range of stakeholders.
- CPA qualifications would be beneficial but not essential.
- Experience in the sporting industry would be beneficial but not essential.
