The Finance Manager provides leadership to the finance functions of Sawtell Catholic Care and Mary Help of Christians Parish Sawtell and contributes as a member of the leadership team to the strategic and operational management of the organisation. As a large and successful aged care provider in the area it is important that the incumbent have experience in and understanding of the funding and reporting requirements for the sector to ensure compliance.
The position is responsible for maintaining effective accounting and reporting systems and processes to enable the leadership team and functional managers to monitor their expenditure against budget and effectively use financial data for budgeting and decision making.
The requirements for this role are outlined in the position description & include::
- Ensure that all financial team members, including Mary Help of Christians Parish and School, are clear about their accountabilities and are provided with support to perform their roles effectively
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure that the organisation is able to achieve its strategic objectives
- Monitor business performance, internal and external trends and benchmarking data and provide reporting and analysis to the senior leadership team and the Board
- Manage the relationship with the external auditor and collaborate effectively in the annual audit process
- Manage financial electronic submissions including the ACFR and the ACNC
- Prepare and lodge applicable grant submissions adhering to required guidelines and deadlines
- Support the provision of comprehensive and accurate financial information to prospective independent and residential aged care residents
- Liaise with Project Manager to provide financial support and reporting
- Monitor capital expenditure, budgets, cash flow and loans
- Assist the HR Manager to oversee the fortnightly provision of the payroll
- Ensure compliance with any statutory regulations governing wages including allowances, entitlements, superannuation, ETP, fringe benefits, and payment summaries
- Coach and mentor staff to build a collaborative high performing team
- Maintain regular communication through a variety of written and face to face channels with staff to share information and build employee engagement
The role will be varied and include a focus on ensuring that SCC remains compliant with various legislative frameworks.
Previous experience in a similar position will be highly regarded.

- Relevant qualifications and/or extensive experience of financial management
- Previous experience in an aged care setting is a requirement
- Demonstrated superior leadership skills with experience of leading change

- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Sound judgment and decision making skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with high level Excel experience
