About our Organisation
Kurbingui Youth Development Ltd is a not-for-profit community service organisation that offers service to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, families, children and young people living within the Greater Brisbane, Moreton Bay and South East regions.
Kurbingui delivers various community services covering areas such as employment and training, family support, domestic and family violence, alcohol and substance abuse, cultural education and engagement programs, education support for families and children from preschool to tertiary, recreation and sports, early years, youth, women’s and men’s programs and cultural group activities, and health and nutrition.
The Role
This is a part time position – 3 days per week.
The Finance Manager is responsible for providing professional, timely and culturally appropriate financial advice and support to the Chief Executive Officer, Managers, and staff in line with operational objectives, organisational policies and procedures, and legislation, accounting standards, contemporary financial management practices and policies. The role has a generalist focus and supports all aspects of Finance including (but not limited to) accounts payable / receivable, invoice management and data entry, journal entry, bank reconciliations, creditors and debtors, expenditure analysis, FBT, grant acquittals, financial forecasts, budget preparation, monitoring and reporting, business plans and assist with financial compliance audits and assessments. The position also supports the finance and administration team with other activities as directed.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Analysis of actual versus budget for monthly reporting to Board and management.
- Process month end journals.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for review by the Chief Executive Officer and or Board of Directors.
- Assist in annual budget preparation.
- Assist with financial compliance audits and assessments
- Undertake billing and other processes in relation to NDIS funding
- Ad hoc projects/reports as requested by the Chief Executive Officer and or Board of Directors.
- Preparation of budgets for individual grant applications on an ad hoc basis.
Selection Criteria:
- Experience in a similar Finance Manager role across the areas listed above. Desirable – within a community service, NFP or NDIS environment; especially within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
- Computer literacy in a variety of software packages. For example, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Accounting, Payroll and HRIS software.
- High level of communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organise and coordinate own workload and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently.
- Willing and able to work within a culturally competent context and Kurbingui Youth Development’s mission, vision and values.
Qualifications:
- A Qualified accountant (CA or CPA) with hands-on experience working within a Management Accountant or other relevant position
