Purpose of the position
Reporting to the Chief Customer Officer, the Category Growth Manager role will be responsible for developing processes, business plans and line architectures that support Forty Wink’s financial and brand objectives. You will partner with iconic suppliers and identify new partners and opportunities to drive growth. You should love data and product in equal measure, and will leverage internal, consumer and industry insights to develop a product strategy and roadmap. Like us, you will be driven to challenge the status quo, continually seeking to innovate and provide differentiation while ensuring we provide the best value and most compelling offers for our consumers. And of course, you will sweat the details because you will be responsible for managing pricing, margin, forecasting, distribution strategies and continually optimizing our range through ongoing business evaluation, trend analysis, and consumer research and insights.
Responsibilities and Duties
▌Product Range
- Leverage sales data, competitive benchmarking, trends and consumer insights to develop a product strategy, roadmap and range that drives profitable growth opportunities.
- Drive customer first line architecture, based on existing and potential consumer needs and market trends. Be creative and innovative, we are not afraid of failure.
- Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure a diverse and high-quality assortment of products at compelling and competitive prices. You will also be responsible for establishing and/or evolving supplier agreements, ensuring terms align with the overarching Merchandising Strategy.
- Partner with our stores and product/marketing committee to ensure that no program is built in isolation and stands the test of market reality. Our strength lies in our people and we’ve got some amazing talent across our network you’ll leverage.
- Develop consumer centric pricing strategy, in line with company’s positioning and ambitions, and co-create with partners to create promotional events that boost sales while keeping our margin standards healthy.
- Be the lead on quality control, and manufacture and design integrity of the products sitting within your category responsibility
▌ Collaboration
- Partner with the Analytics team to optimize product range performance.
- Work with our partners to negotiate pricing and programs that hit our margin requirements while also helping set our partners up for success.
- Partner with marketing to insure an aligned go-to-market approach across each major milestone.
- Provide the marketing team with timely information of the range, including imagery and specs
- Collaborate with Marketing department to ensure website content for Merchandise is optimized for our shoppers: Product names, descriptions, benefits, measurements and photography.
- Work with the Analytics and Marketing teams to prepare, activate and analyse online memorable product promotions in line with the Marketing Calendar
▌Work Experience & Technical Skills Experience / Qualifications
Essential
5+ years’ category management experience
- 5+ years in retail industry
