This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024 

The Finance Officer will assist the Manager Corporate Services with a range of finance and business operations and work collaboratively with the Executive and Corporate Services Teams and all other staff.  The successful applicant will ideally have strong financial experience, sound interpersonal skills, flexibility, and professionalism. They will provide operational and strategic support, ensuring resource use and business processes enable enhanced student learning.

The successful applicant will have relevant extensive experience in schools’ financial management, reporting and procurement, records management systems and maintaining the school accounts, physical assets, and resources, to achieve the outcomes required of the role. Key to this role is the ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, ideally while effectively prioritising and meeting deadlines within a high-pressure secondary school environment.

This position requires a flexible team player with sound communication skills and a thorough understanding and operational knowledge of the relevant systems and policies required to process, maintain, monitor, analyse and extract information. It is highly regarded to have current extensive experience using RM Finance, RM Billing, RM Asset Manager, Flexipurchase and Compass, along with the expertise to check for data integrity and provide support to the finance team. End of Month, End of Calendar Year and Financial Year rollovers in a school environment is required, as is a thorough understanding of Procurement in the Government and Schools systems.

Kinross College is a vibrant secondary school catering for students from Kinross, Burns Beach, Mindarie, and part of Quinns Rocks, located in the City of Joondalup. Situated in the north-western suburbs on the coastal strip, some 30kms from Perth Central Business District and 1 kilometre from the ocean, its position is advantageous in terms of accessibility. The current student enrolment includes students from Year 7 to 11 with Year 12 intake commencing in 2025.

All students are taught by subject specialist teachers and in addition to core curriculum, the school offers a wide range of Elective subjects for years 8-10 students and a very comprehensive course selection for Years 11 and 12 with Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), Pathways and Cert courses.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Financial management skills with the ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting practises and procedures.
  • Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to work with minimum supervision, identify priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and liaise with individuals at all levels.
  • Well-developed computer skills including the ability to create, operate, extract reports and manipulate databases, spreadsheets and systems.
  • Conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills with the ability to apply innovative thinking in problem solving.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS 

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
