The ideal candidate has experience in a payroll team/service delivery, is familiar with the use of an HR Information Management System (preferably Aurion, but not exclusive).The candidate is engaging in a team, quick to pick up new tasks, detail oriented, works well prioritising high volumes of data to be processed and is a skilled communicator with customersResponsible forThis position is responsible for services and functions that improve the payroll services of the Department which includes:· Provides operational support for the department’s payroll services including:§ Authorises, processes, and responds to complex payroll issues.§ Processes payroll variations into the computerised payroll system according to payroll deadlines.§ Ensures practices and procedures complies with relevant industrial agreements, Financial Administration and Audit Act and Department Policies.· Conducts leave audits, checks and processes leave entitlement transfers and arranges for the transfer of funds for this leave.· Liaises with managers and clients, providing advice and support on the application of industrial awards and agreements as they pertain to employee pay related entitlements.· Investigates and responds to payroll issues and enquiries as required.· Provides information as requested to authorised external agencies.· Ensures the termination process for all resignations, retirements and severance packages is performed.· Builds effective relationships with employees, clients and stakeholders using appropriate communication, liaison, negotiation and networking with internal and external parties.· Implements and maintains a culture of customer focus, best practice, innovation, and continuous improvement.· Encourages and inspires the team to deliver their best performance.· Support team members through coaching, transferring payroll knowledge and encouraging self-development.· Maintains appropriate and accurate records for all processes and transactions.· Understanding and commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles and practices.· Ability to role model the Department’s code of conduct and values in an exemplary manner.
