Who we are
NORSTA Maritime is the Regional Maintenance Provider for both the North (Darwin) and North-East (Cairns, Head Office) regions, delivering project management capabilities, technical expertise and quality assurance activities for the Royal Australian Navy fleet.
Our advanced maritime sustainment planning coordinates fleet maintenance at scale across Far North Queensland, Northern Australia and adjacent waters for the Commonwealth of Australia.
Due to high demand, we are expanding rapidly and developing further capacity for more vessel platforms.
Note: This position requires Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (minimum Baseline).
About the role
The Finance Officer ensures accurate and efficient recording of financial information in NORSTA’s accounting system to assist in the preparation of financial statements and associated reporting.
This includes performing accounts payable tasks, raising purchase orders, making general ledger entries, recording payments and adjustments. In addition, this role also provides financial and administrative support to the Finance team and as required to other departments.
Tasks include (but are not limited to):
- Accounts Payable functions.
- Reconciling the General Ledger.
- Processing payments and handling daily banking activities.
- Identifying data irregularities to Financial Controller/Accountant.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents.
- Reconciling supplier accounts and handling queries.
- Expense review and analysis.
- Data entry as required
- Administration assistance
- Ad-hoc tasks/projects as required.
The role is part-time, with flexibility for the right person.
About you
As an experienced Finance Officer with demonstrated experience in Accounts Payable, you are meticulous and methodical with an aptitude for numbers, logic and mathematics.
You may be looking for a secure position with flexibility built-in, including part-time hours and the ability to work from home when needed.
Analytical by nature, you place a high value in accuracy in your work and are a natural problem solver.
You will be able to communicate respectfully and work collaboratively across an organisation to achieve outcomes.
It is desirable that you have experience and familiarity with SAP-B1.
You may possess Certificates or a Diploma in Finance/Accounting/ Bookkeeping and are likely to have a minimum of five years' experience in Finance across a variety of related roles.
