Finance Support Officer – NSW Government
Overview:
The NSW Government Department is seeking a seasoned finance professional to play a pivotal role in the organisation’s budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing monthly management reports, performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, conducting variance and expense analysis, and engaging extensively with various stakeholders across the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and disseminate high-quality, timely, and accurate financial management reports.
- Conduct variance and expense analysis to support organisational financial health.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist with annual budget preparation and forecasting.
- Provide regular progress reporting and ensure appropriate support for business needs.
- Strategic and Operational Advice:
- Offer strategic, tactical, and operational advice to inform management decisions on day-to-day operations and long-term program goals.
- Evaluate business cases and funding submissions, providing recommendations to ensure alignment with best practices and optimal allocation of funds.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Conduct extensive consultations with numerous stakeholders across the department to ensure effective communication and understanding of financial policies and requirements.
- Facilitate connections between corporate finance specialist teams and budget managers, ensuring seamless support and communication.
- Team Support and Development:
- Provide mentoring, advice, and guidance to team members, supporting their operational and project activities.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct detailed variance and expense analysis.
- Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to provide strategic and operational financial advice.
- Experience in mentoring and supporting team members.
