The Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role in the accurate recording and timely processing of all financial transactions, to enable monthly and annual financial reporting to occur. - Complete all monthly financial transactions including end of month journals, payroll journals, allocation journals, prepayments and accrual journals.
- Prepare all balance sheet reconciliations.
- Participate in the annual financial audit process with appointed auditors.
- Respond to management financial transaction queries including the provision of further information and any subsequent adjustment entries.
- Oversee and report on grant income and grant expenditure.
- Participate in the preparation and analysis of all financial reports such as monthly financial reports, and end of year financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory reporting.
- Prepare, review and lodge Business Activity Statements, Fringe Benefits Tax returns and other taxation compliance activities as required.
- Oversee the Senior Accounts Officer and their functions.
- Oversee the management of the organisation's assets register.
- Develop partnerships and alliances with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- National Police Check (or willing to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain)
- Relevant tertiary qualification and membership of/or eligibility for membership of a professional accounting association
- Demonstrated business and financial aptitude and skills in the not for profit, government or corporate sectors.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience of contemporary financial and accounts processes.
- Demonstrated highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to consult and negotiate professionally, build effective working relationships and effectively liaise with staff at all levels.
- Highly developed planning skills that demonstrate the ability to coordinate and deliver a financial management service.
- Advanced Microsoft excel skills.
- Experienced in the use of mid-range accounting and payroll packages, databases and business excellence tools (Xero and Crystal Reports preferred)
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
