Position Title: Financial Accountant
Reports To: General Manager
Location: Mascot, Sydney, NSW
Job Overview:
Unique Retailing Pty Ltd is a dynamic and thriving fashion retail business with three amazing brands under our umbrella including Australian Designer brand WILLOW plus 2 globally successful and well known international brands, VINCE and Theory.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial accountant to join our young and passionate team, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial health of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions. This role involves managing financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations within the dynamic and fast-paced fashion retail industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage annual budgets.
- Update 12-months rolling forecasts based on current business conditions.
- Perform variance analysis to identify and explain budget vs. actual discrepancies.
2. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Create detailed management reports highlighting key financial metrics and trends.
3. Month-end:
- Post month-end journals, including but not limited to a prepayment, accrues, payroll, credit card expenses, depreciation, and adjustments.
- Review and approve all journal entries prepared by the Assistant Accountant.
- Reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Finalise month-end within 4 working business days.
4. Cash Flow Management:
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts to ensure sufficient liquidity.
- Manage working capital by optimizing inventory levels, receivables, and payables.
5. Others
- Prepare monthly sales target and calculate monthly commission, target commission/sales rate at 1%.
- Business partnering and liaising with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Review and lodge tax returns - income tax, FBT and BAS.
- Assisting ad-hoc requests from APG and Co and Apparel Group.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of previous experience in a similar role
- AP21 experience would be beneficial
- Retail background is crucial
- Highly organised with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- A true hands-on approach in working
- CA/CPA Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
