About the Department
This federal government department is charged with the responsibility for national policies and programs that help deliver a strong and fair society for all Australians. The department develops and implements social policy.
Key Duties

• Undertake accurate and timely complex journal preparation and reconciliations
• Support the monthly and annual reporting to the Department of Finance
• Prepare high-quality financial statements work papers
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with our clients
• Undertake specialist or technical research and analysis to achieve high-quality results
• Actively contribute to the Finance Group's transition towards GovERP and shared services.
• May manage staff and their priorities to deliver high-quality and timely team outputs.

Knowledge of and experience in the Commonwealth public sector financial accounting framework is highly desirable.

• Experience using financial reporting systems and spreadsheets.
• Highly developed skills in communication, analysis and problem solving.
• Ability to identify, manage and evaluate risk in all decision making and delivery of outcomes.
• Proficiency to build and sustain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders and clients.
• The value of a curious mindset, able to seek opportunities to be innovative and deliver positive change and improvements.
• Demonstrated technical experience in the relevant areas.
• Demonstrated experience using and maintaining financial systems (e.g. SAP FI/CO and TM1) is highly desirable.

• Tertiary qualifications (or working towards) in commerce, accounting, finance, business or a related field will be highly regarded.
• Membership of a professional accounting association (CPA/CAANZ), or progress towards, is highly desirable.
