Vela APAC is a division of Vela Software and provides finance, admin, payroll and HR support to our growing number of software companies across Australia, New Zealand, India, the UK and Singapore.
About the role
This position supports the Finance Manager and Group finance team in the preparation and processing of a wide range of accounting and administrative activities including accruals, prepayments, provisions, BAS, IAS, reconciliations, payroll, banking, and associated reporting (month-end/quarter-end) to ensure the timely and efficient provision of financial services to the organisation.
Main responsibilities include:
- Delivery high quality financial analysis.
- Assist with successful completion of the monthly and quarterly financial deliverables for the vertical market.
- Assist in the preparation and updating of the VM monthly/quarterly QSR reporting.
- Contribute to effective formulation, documentation and sharing of processes, policies, and procedures.
- Supervision and mentor graduate Financial Accountant.
- Effective stakeholder relationship management with an emphasis on fostering excellent business partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, or other relevant professional qualification
- CA/CPA membership or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience in a in a related role, preferably within a commercial software environment
- Solid understanding of core accounting principles and applicable accounting standards
- You thrive in tackling challenges head-on and finding creative solutions
- Highly effective communication skills with high attention to detail
- Tech savviness and experience with computerised accounting packages
- Energetic and self-motivated being able to work autonomously and in a team-based environment
- Experience in Oracle Netsuite that would be advantageous but not mandatory
- High level of adaptability/flexibility coupled with a keenness to learn
