We're on the lookout for a talented Financial Accounting Officer to embark on an exciting career journey with us. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in our finance team, contributing to the success and the growth of DRC. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring Council’s Investments Register is maintained, and assisting the Accounts Receivable Team Leader in the management of Council’s investment portfolio and cash flow management. The Financial Accounting Officer is also responsible for managing Council’s Trust Register and assists in ensuring Council’s revenue is correctly processed and recorded.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Assisting in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Participating in audits applicable to the key responsibilities and provide necessary documentation, reconciling financial records and addressing auditor inquiries
  • Assisting the Team Leader in management of Council’s investment portfolio, ensuring Council’s investment register is maintained and cash flow is managed
  • Maintaining Council’s Trust Register
  • Assisting debt recovery of Council’s sundry debtors
  • Maintaining clear and open communication with colleagues and supervisors, sharing insights, finds and recommendations effectively
  • Staying updated on financial regulations and best practices, and ensure adherence to them in all financial activities

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

As a Financial Accounting Officer, your analytical skills are your strong suit. You excel in clear communication, have an eagerness to learn and grow, and are tech-savvy, with proficiency in tools like Microsoft Excel. Problem-solving and dedication is your strength, and you are known for your positive and proactive attitude, as well as your team spirit. Your organisational skills and compliance orientation are a stand out. To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor of Accounting or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards and Legislation, relevant to the position
  • High level knowledge and experience in the use of PC based office application software especially Microsoft applications including Word and Excel
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Sound organisational / time management skills

Attractive annual salary ranging from $75,540 to $87,790 is on offer. Please note there will be a 3.5% pay increase payable from mid July 2024.
