The Role & The Team
As a Financial Accounting Specialist, you will form an integral part of the Corporate Finance Group, contribute to a high-performing and accountable team; and continue to deliver Airservices’ record of Safety, Environmental, WHS, Risk and Compliance excellence.
You will build and maintain a culture of continuous improvement within a collaborative and inclusive team. You will lead and inspire Financial Accounting staff to deliver on functional and organisational objectives while providing ongoing professional advice, guidance and support, fostering a Centre of Excellence mindset.
You will:
- Assist with preparation of Airservices annual financial statements in accordance with PGPA and AASB requirements, including Board reporting
- Liaise with External Audit and internal business partners to fulfil annual financial statements audit requirements
- Undertake analysis and provide timely financial information and advice on Financial Accounting standards, best practice policies and procedures, including identifying and facilitating improvements to financial reporting processes
- Performing month-end and year-end close processes, including ensuring accountability, accuracy and integrity of financial transactions within the general ledger
- Preparation of financial information for reporting including the Quarterly Report to the Minister, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Senate Estimates, Board briefing papers
- Seek continuous improvement of Financial Accounting processes to enable the delivery of an efficient and stream-lined service, documenting changes to processes and procedures
- Provide technical oversight, direction and coordination of transactional management processes across shared services team.

The Person
The successful applicant will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or related discipline with sound knowledge and practical application of accounting standards and finance management practices and statutory reporting
- Demonstrated experience in the business and financial operations of a large commercial organisation or accounting firm, with exposure to accounting issues
- Demonstrated experience in leadership, including strong influencing, stakeholder management and communications skills
- Demonstrated experience in Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Membership of a professional accounting body in Australia (CPA Australia, CA ANZ) (Desirable)
- Capability and motivation to embrace technology and new ways of working
