We’re a rapidly growing digital agency and custom software house looking for an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Financial Controller to join us in our Brisbane CBD office. The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Financial Controller is responsible for the full financial and management accounting functions of the business. This includes managing all aspects of the finances of the company, as well as providing sound and timely financial information to the executive team to facilitate effective organisational decision making.
As a Financial Controller you will be responsible for:
- Regular budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning to assist with company goal execution;
- Financial analysis and insight to CEO and Executive Team regarding client, project, product and department profitability, including execution of annual price increases;
- Preparation of quarterly reporting for the company directors, including commentary and advice to aid in decision making;
- Preparation of weekly financial dashboard for CEO and Executive Team, including commentary and advice to aid in decision making;
- Monitoring and management of operating cash flows and regular cash flow forecasting;
- Working with departmental project managers, determine appropriate monthly revenue recognition for project-based revenue, including analysis of trends;
- Oversee company’s payroll, including maintenance of employee’s payroll files, leave entitlements, and EOFY processes, as well providing backup to Accountant for processing fortnightly payroll as needed;
- Oversee full end of month process, including reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, and journal entries for accruals, prepayments, providing backup to Accountant as needed;
- Preparation and lodgement of activity statements with the ATO and payroll tax return with the Office of State Revenue;
- Research and execution of financial grants suitable for the company, including full ownership of Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) applications and reporting;
- Working with external R&D consultants and internal development team, preparation and lodgement of annual Research and Development tax incentive;
- Oversee company’s Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, providing backup to Accountant as needed;
- Active expense management, including audits of subscriptions and recurring expenses;
- Assist the CEO and Executive Team with ad hoc strategic financial planning and special projects, as needed.
The ideal person for this role will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce;
- CPA or CA qualification will be highly regarded;
- Minimum of 5 years financial and management accounting experience;
- Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel;
- Extensive experience using Xero;
- Strong attention to detail with dedication to accuracy and well-developed organisational skills;
- The ability to problem solve, prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast working and continually changing agile agency environment;
- A high degree of professionalism and appreciation for confidentiality;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable you to communicate with clients and stakeholders over the phone or by email;
- Previous experience within a digital agency, technology or marketing environment will be highly regarded.
