Financial Controller

Road and Civil Surveys is looking for a Finance Controller to join our team to assist with our growth in the industry. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and possess exceptional financial management and leadership abilities.

About the Role

Operating within RCS shared services function, the Financial Controller will have the opportunity to work with various companies across the country. This position is ideal for an Accountant with a commercial background that can confidently build strong relationships with senior stakeholders. This is a full-time opportunity, based in Smeaton Grange NSW.  

Responsibilities

• Action various accounting tasks across multiple RCS businesses including budgeting, forecasting, reconciliation, FBT calculations and fixed asset management.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, WIP, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Analyse financial data and provide strategic recommendations to the managing director and executive team.
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the finance department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing financial guidance to management team.
• Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits and tax filings.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement efficient financial systems and procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CA certification preferred.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, preferably in construction, or engineering industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly proficient in Xero, and other programs that integrate with Xero such as Hubdoc, reach reporting etc
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.

Reporting Relationship: The Financial Controller will report directly to the Managing Director.
