Along with our dedicated team of both First Nations and non-Indigenous educators and teachers, we are focused on improving the lives of Australia’s children and their families, and making a real difference for children in these crucial early years.In support of our First Nations team members, we have a deadly career opportunity for a First Nations Engagement & Support Specialist.The role is for someone who’d like to play a pivotal part in shaping and supporting the future of our First Nations workforce, and bringing our First Nations employment strategic direction to life.You will be curious and enquiring, bringing an open mind to reimagining ‘what could be’ rather than ‘what is’. You will be able to build on existing work and bring great communication and stakeholder engagement skills to amplify the voices of our First Nations team members, and drive priority pieces of work connecting, and supporting First Nations colleagues. Through organisation wide advocacy you will make a real difference to the engagement of First Nations team membersThe key responsibilities of this role include:

• Analyse and understand the factors influencing engagement among First Nations Goodstarters
• Contribute to crafting and implementing employment initiatives designed to provide “deadly experiences” for First Nations Goodstarters
• Design and conduct Yarning Circles to foster connection, collaboration, and shared experiences among First Nations Goodstarters
• Identify and facilitate opportunities for professional development and growth tailored to the needs of First Nations Goodstarters
• Mentor and provide ongoing support to First Nations Goodstarters at various stages of their employment journey, including traineeship, qualification completion, and career advancement
• Lead the First Nations Voices group, overseeing its governance and facilitating consultation sessions with State-based representatives
• Collect feedback from the broader First Nations workforce to inform the review, evaluation, and enhancement of employment initiatives
• Collaborate with external stakeholders as needed to further support the engagement and development of First Nations Goodstarters

To be successful in this position some key attributes are:Experience/Attributes

• Previous experience in providing support to First Nations employees across a distributed workforce
• Demonstrated strong connection to culture and community
• Proven experience in leading and delivering programs within a national network, ensuring successful outcomes and achievement of key performance indicators

Workplace requirements/Qualifications

• Working with Children Clearance
• Qualification in human services or human resources (desirable)
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
• Knowledge of early childhood education and care (desirable)
