Rail Fitter Machinist / Toolmaker Workshop role:

Our valued client is a multi-disciplined engineering company that specializes in the design, project management & manufacture of special purpose machines, precision component machining, toolmaking, fabrication in a workshop & site.
Position Overview:
The client’s operations team are seeking ONE Fitter Machinist / Toolmaker to join their CNC, fabrication / general sections within their production team. Daily task will include operating manual lathes & mills plus using a variety of high precision measuring instruments such as internal and external micrometers, dial indicators, surface gauge, Vernier calipers and other precision instruments.
Role Tasks & Duties:
The role includes but not limited to:
- Must have the ability to read & interpret work from drawings, Engineering specifications, sketches, verbal and/or written instructions.
- Generally, works with little or no supervision, but receives instructions from Team Leaders.
- All manufactured products and services conform to established specifications of quality.
- Check the quality of the First Article, Work in progress and inspect the finished product of other Tradesmen on request or as needed.
- Assist in the training of Apprentices as & when required to do so.
- Ensure hours taken to complete work are in line with estimated hours or good trade practice.
- Ensure that Time Sheets are completed accurately at the completion of all each shift.
- Maintain a clean environment, clean machines and areas daily, put all tools away.
- Take care and appropriately use company owned equipment so that it is not damaged.
- Any other reasonable duties assigned to you by your team leader.
- Take reasonable care of yourself and others in the workplace.
- Work in a way that does not compromise your own Health and Safety and that of others.
- Follow Company Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions or equivalent, Programs and Health and Safety Legislation, as appropriate.
- Ensure that team members adhere to all company health & safety policies procedures.
- Do not bypass or misuse systems or equipment provided for any purpose.
- Report unsafe conditions or acts which come to your attention and address where possible. Notify your supervisor of actual or potential Health and Safety risks in your work area.
- Notify your manager immediately of incidents or injury. Seek medical attention if necessary and where required participate in an injury management plan making all efforts to return to work as soon as possible in line with medical advice.
- Maintain and use equipment and chemicals appropriately and only use if trained and authorized.
- Follow all signage and PPE requirements and participate in training as identified.
- Co-operate with management, Health and Safety representatives and other people as necessary to enable compliance with any requirement under Health & Safety legislation.
- Hold an Australian Trade Certification III in Fitting & Machining, Toolmaking, Boiler making or CNC Programming.
- Must have a minimum total of X10 years tradesman proven practical experience & great communication skills.
- Needs to be able to demonstrate proven practical experience of first-class machinist (heavy industry experience highly desirable).
- Have a valid NSW LF Forklift License & VOC in overhead gantry crane.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
