The Role
As a Fleet Controller, you will be responsible for the deployment of appropriate vehicles, equipment and relevant driver expertise to support customer pick-ups and deliveries. You will report directly to the Radio Room/Local Trailer & RSC Manager, contributing towards supporting operations and service delivery. Key to your success will be your capacity to direct the fleet to maximize productivity and meet customer needs.
You will be responsible for coordinating driver resources to ensure Team Global Express Parcels meets our customer’s expectations of high-quality service. You are also responsible for improving operational efficiency, improving service levels, ensuring safe processes, effective use of technology and synergies released.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maximizing the use of productive PUD resources
Responding to drivers and customer service staff promptly
Ensuring effective communications both to and from the fleet
Control the fleet via radio communications in the most efficient and economical manner that also meets customer service requirements.
Ensure jobs are allocated in a manner that ensure safety and legal compliance.
Work closely with Operations management to ensure runs are always organized in a manner that ensures high levels of productivity, fairness and equity amongst drivers.
Allocation of pick-ups through computer system and ensure no pickups are missed.
Use allocation systems in the most efficient manner possible.
Your role will also include, but is not limited to the following:
Allocation of pick-ups through computer system and ensure no non pickups
Ensure that and special customer delivery or pick up information is relayed to drivers promptly
Liaise with customers as necessary concerning changes to jobs. (Delays, modifications etc.)
Provide a time critical, satisfactory resolution to internal and external customer queries and initiate action to prevent the occurrence of service non conformity
Ensure that vehicles that may not have a two-way radio, telephone in at regular intervals
Receive and implement job modifications
Ensure safe working practices including handling of Dangerous Goods and OH&S regulations
Providing sound guidance to drivers in the case of breakdowns, emergency situations or other situations where drivers require experienced support
Participate in toolbox meetings, performance review interviews and training as required
Constantly work to promote safe work practices and safe working environments
