Responsibilities, tasks, and duties
Responsibilities include monitoring and providing ongoing support of the food Quality Systems in a timely and efficient manner and assisting the team with a focus on employee behaviours, safety, quality, and delivery to production requirements with a cost efficiency consciousness every time, in full and to specification.
• Monitor processes of areas daily and conduct all relevant food checks (MHA, sampling, temperatures, label checks, tare checks, weight checks, foreign objects, allergens, segregation checks, preop, pest control, water, product checks, general process, etc) as per Approved Arrangements Manual, Quality Procedures, QA work instructions, and as instructed by the QA Manager.
• Monitor personal, operational hygiene and food integrity as a matter or priority. When issues are identified, utilise the Recognise, Rectify, Report method.
• Conduct food testing and environmental sampling as per procedures and as instructed by the QA Manager. Food Safety issues must be reported immediately to relevant supervisors and the QA Manager.
• Liaise with the QA Manager and Production Manager on food and general quality issues.
• Maintain a sound understanding of the Meat Industry Legislation, customer standards and principles of Quality Assurance including HACCP, allergen management, AusMeat requirements, WQA/Coles/Aldi/Costco requirements, Australian Standards and Approved Arrangement Guidelines.
• Conduct internal audits, bag audits, GMP audits as instructed by the QA Manager. Apply and monitor corrective and preventative actions as instructed by the QA Manager, report and document accordingly.
• Exercise good communication and consultation practices daily within the QA team, and with other teams as required, including changeover notes, correct reporting, collection and compiling facts, and documentation.
• Actively participate in developing staff understanding of food safety and related procedures and protocols, in the course of daily duties.
• Undertake and commit to QA-related training courses as required by the company.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum bachelor’s degree level (or higher) qualification in science, food technology or similar area of study;
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in a food processing environment;
• Experience in meat processing environment preferred;
• HACCP training;
• Experience conducting internal audits, qualification in internal auditing preferred.
