Foreshore Animal Compliance Officer

Council is seeking to fill several temporary positions to work within our Animal Compliance team. These opportunities include:
- A Term-Contract Part-Time Foreshore Animal Compliance Officer position up to 28 hours per week (including Saturday & Sunday or alternate Saturday & Sunday option) - parental leave until December 2024.
- Term-Contract and Casual opportunities to fill Foreshore Animal Compliance Officer roles on an as-needs basis.
We are looking for people with excellent customer service skills who have an interest in animal handling (dogs, cats and livestock) in a regulatory role. These positions are responsible for educating and regulating the community when it comes to responsible pet ownership, and animal control in public places including our foreshore and beaches.
Salary up to $45.13 per hour plus superannuation penalty rates for weekends, and an on-call allowance may apply as outlined in our employment policy & procedures. A vehicle is provided to travel to and from work when on call. (Salary will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)
What do you need to be successful in this role?
These positions require dynamic individuals who can demonstrate:
- An ability in handling animals, including microchip scanning, and seizing of stray animals (including dogs, cats and roaming livestock).
- An understanding of the requirements of handling aggressive dogs.
- A calm outlook with excellent conflict resolution skills and the ability to work with difficult customers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and work with others.
- The ability to problem-solve and work with minimal supervision.
- A high level of written and oral communication skills.
- Applicants should be suitably fit to undertake the duties as outlined in the job description.
- Applicants should be aware this position has an on-call requirement.
