About The Role
• Join Darebin City Council as a Free from ViolenceCultural Inclusion Officer to lead the planning, delivery, evaluation, and reporting of the Free from Violence Local Government Program (2024-2027) at Darebin.
• This Program is one of Darebin’s commitments towards gender equality. This part-time role will collaborate with and be supported by other gender equity portfolio holders at Darebin to wholistically advance and sustain inclusive primary prevention initiatives at Darebin.

The Free from ViolenceCultural Inclusion Officer role is an exciting new opportunity that will be responsible for implementing a whole of Council's approach to the prevention of family and gender-based violence.

Promoting Cultural Inclusion by centering the rights of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse people will be a key focus of this role.

Reporting to the Coordinator of Equity and Diversity, you will be a key member of the Equity and Diversity team.

The Free from ViolenceCultural Inclusion Officer will engage with key stakeholders across Council to embed gender equality and family violence prevention practices across Darebin’s activities as a workplace, service-provider, connector and leader.

To be successful in your application you will need to be able to demonstrate:
• High level knowledge of best practice approaches to family and gender-based violence primary prevention.
  • Understanding of intersectional gender equity advocacy with particular focus on race, gender, culture and linguistic diversity.
  • A tertiary qualification in health promotion, community development, sociology, social work, or related discipline (highly regarded, but not essential) and/or relevant work experience.

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to adapt communication to suit varying audiences.
• Project management skills will be highly regarded.
