Proudly Tasmanian and independently owned, The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel and Hadley’s Orient Hotel are conveniently located in Hobart’s CBD. The Old Woolstore offers 242 hotel rooms and spacious apartments along with Stockmans Restaurant, the Baaa Bar, and a comprehensive range of meeting and event facilities. Built in 1834, Hadley’s Hotel is an iconic Hobart venue, offering 71 accommodation rooms, the Orient Bar and Restaurant, unique events spaces, and permanent and temporary art exhibitions. Across both properties, our vision is to provide our guests with unique Tasmanian hospitality experiences, enjoyed and recommended by all.
We are seeking fully qualified and experienced chefs to join our kitchen team, with full-time and Casual opportunities available. Led by our Executive Chef, Sam Wagg, Stockmans Restaurant at The Old Woolstore serves breakfast, dinner, and room service, as well as catering for onsite events and visiting groups. We focus on local, fresh ingredients with menus that perfectly reflect the tastes of Tasmania.
Our chefs are responsible for delivering high quality food production, ensuring that customer expectations, service objectives and food safety guidelines are met. You will be someone who succeeds in a team environment and be at ease contributing to the creative process.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain a high level of food quality, exceeding guest expectations and ensuring the use of quality and fresh ingredients.
- Ensure products are served at a consistent and high level, maintained through standard recipe and product specification/portion control manuals.
- Be aware of stock levels, accounting for levels of trade, shelf-life, and storage.
- Meet all food safety legislation and hotel standards regarding food handling.
- Assist with the design of seasonal restaurant, snack, and room service menus.
Flexibility is essential as shifts will include days, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
