About Us: Kismet Turkish Gourmet is a well-established restaurant located in the heart of vibrant Manuka, Canberra. We are known for our authentic Turkish cuisine, fresh taste and diverse menu offerings.
Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our busy team. Our ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy commercial kitchen, with a strong understanding of Turkish cuisine and flavours. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of traditional Turkish dishes for our current menu and daily specials, including shish kebab, shish tavuk, shish kofte, shish mantar, gozleme, falafel, Turkish dips, pide, imam bayildi, adana, saksuka, mercimek kofte, sebze dolma, iskender kebab, manti, tavuk tandir, kasap kofte, kuzu sis, kuzu guvec, kuzu pirzola, kuzu incik, lahmacun, and pastries such as tahinli helva, kunefe, keskul, sutlac, kalbura basti, kuru baklava, kadayif.
- Plan menus and create newly inspired Turkish dishes, including dishes for the specials board using in-season produce.
- Prepare dishes according to customer’s dietary requirements.
- Prepare budget for food and labour costs.
- Select, oversee, and train kitchen staff in preparing a wide variety of Turkish dishes.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, food quality and presentation throughout all stages of preparation.
- Place daily orders to suppliers.
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years relevant work experience and/or relevant qualifications (Diploma level).
- Previous experience working as a Chef, preferably in a Turkish or Mediterranean cuisine restaurant.
- Solid understanding of Turkish cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavours.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a team environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
