Job Title: Pastry Cook (full-time)

Salary: $74,000.00 exclusive of superannuation
Purpose of Position:
The purpose of this position is to maintain high quality bakery goods at Bonbons Bakery and to establish new and exciting bread options to complement existing range. Skills essential for the position are hand-moulding and kneading techniques, knowledge of different types of doughs and varying cooking conditions and techniques.
Main Tasks:
- Ordering and monitoring quantity and quality of supplies
- Menu planning and determining daily quantity of bakery goods to produce
- Preparing mixes and ingredients including measuring flour, sugar, yeast and other ingredients to prepare batters, dough and fillings
- Mixing, kneading and shaping dough for bread, including different types of bread loafs, buns and rolls, cakes and pastry goods
- Operating and using mixer, oven and other machinery and cooking appliances
- Creating new and individualised products for special occasions and customer orders
- Cleaning and operating bakery premises and equipment to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Conducting regular check on quality of bakery products, inspect cleanliness and working conditions of tools, equipment and supplies
- Preparing and organising kitchen staff roster
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain solid knowledge of all bakery products from ingredients to recipes and execution
- Maintain high level of quality bakery products, good sanitation, safety and food handling
- Minimise wastage and maintain as well as update product portfolio
Experience/Qualification:
- Certificate IV in Bakery or at least three years of relevant experience as a Pastry Cook
- Experience working in a bakery and proven competence with bread, cakes and pastries
- Experience working within a high volume food manufacturing environment
- Competent with basic arithmetic
- Strong work ethics
