JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:  STUDY TOURS ESL ACADEMIC MANAGER (Sydney - based)

Full Time & Permanent

ABOUT BLUE SKY EDUCATION

As a global Study Tour services provider with a presence in the UK,  Australia and Singapore, BlueSky Education provides short-term and skills-based programmes for students in Australia, Singapore/Malaysia, Japan and Vietnam. Our online and in-person short courses are designed to prepare students for their future with a variety of programmes that cater to skills needed in the years to come, whether that be learning how to code in our Robotics Programme, how to be business-ready in our Business Management Programme or how to become a fantastic speaker in our Public Speaking & Leadership programme. There is something for everyone at BlueSky Education and we want students to come away with better English skills and life skills which they can take with them through life far after camp has ended.

OUR STUDY TOUR OFFERINGS

We work with the biggest study travel agencies, English tutoring centres, and public and private schools in Vietnam and Japan. Our current Australia offerings include one-day to 3 week long campus or homestay programmes in Public Speaking, Sustainable Future, Business & Startup, local school immersion, campus Brothers & Sisters programmes and guest speakers sessions.

We have been an authorised agent of the NSW Department of Education since 2017. More details on our exciting programme offerings can be found in our brochure: https://go.fliplink.me/view/bse-2023-brochure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

As our STUDY TOURS are bouncing back strongly post COVID, we are looking for a full-time Australia-Based Study Tour Academic Manager to manage and professionalise our camp academic content and ensure the highest customer satisfaction. This will be one of the most crucial roles in our company as programme delivery quality decides if our clients will return for more business with us in the following year.

Working with an international team based in Singapore, Vietnam and the Philippines, you are responsible for improving existing and creating new programme curricula for Australia. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following areas:

1)  Study Tours Planning

  • Revise and improve upon the existing set of camp curriculum and develop curriculum for new programmes
  • Create programme schedules based on client requests
  • Advertise, shortlist, interview and recruit freelancer teachers and guest speakers for online and in-person Youth and Adult programmes ensuring selected teachers have the personality and qualification to deliver our programmes in a fun and gamified study tour style.
  • Coordinate programme curriculum preparation including briefing and training freelancer teachers and contractors.
  • Attend conferences and local associations, and stay updated on Study Tour industry trends and themes. Incorporate trending themes in programme curriculum design to attract client interest.
  • Represent Blue Sky Education as Academic Manager in client meetings and events.
  • Lead effort in identifying new technological tools to enhance and improve our programme delivery.

2) Study Tours Execution

  • Onboard freelancer teachers ensuring teachers are briefed on curriculum, teaching methodology and expectation
  • Observe teachers and conduct quality control of our camp class teaching, manage freelancer teachers and be the point of contact to solve any problem and customer complaint related to programme curriculum and teaching that might arise during camps
  • Teach and deliver existing Blue Sky short-term Education Programmes as and when required
  • Work with camp managers to ensure our clients (school directors, teachers, chaperons) feel they are listened to and cared for.

3) Marketing

  • Contribute to team effort in producing marketing materials (websites, brochures, videos, marketing campaigns, brochures)
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to execute marketing campaigns.

This role is exciting as you will be working with several external stakeholders (local partners, overseas clients, students). You will be the face of our camps when students from overseas arrive in Australia. The role also comes with the challenges of planning and executing curriculum delivery in multiple camps in various cities across Australia while being based in Sydney.

REQUIREMENT

This role best suits candidates with 4-7 years of work experience in ESL teaching who appreciate a dynamic role, not a typical 9 am to 5 pm role. You will not be sitting in an office all day and doing the same thing. You will be on campus with our students and clients when programmes are running (Feb-March, June-August), and return to your office during the low season.

To excel in this role, you will need to be well-organised and excel at creating a fun curriculum for young learners.

This role best suits candidates with ESL teaching qualifications (TELSO, CELTA) and experience teaching non-native speaker students from Asia (Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand). We are looking for candidates with a warm and energetic personality and the ability to connect with students and build relationships with clients.

  • Full working rights in Australia with strong local knowledge
  • Bachelor degree holder
  • Teaching experience for young learners who are non-native speakers
  • A warm personality, with a willingness and capacity to extend themselves and embrace new challenges such as leading group activities and conducting team building activities
  • Ability to build rapport with students and clients
  • Enjoy working with teenagers and young students
  • Computer literate and proven competence in administration
  • Flexible, adaptable and solutions-focused
  • Effective communicator with a well-projected voice
  • Experience in designing curriculum and programme content/themes for study groups
  • ESL teaching qualifications (TELSO, CELTA) are a must.
  • Working with children check

REMUNERATION/BENEFITS

  • Annual salary package of AUD 65,000 - AUD 85,000 per annum + super.
  • Work in a dynamic and fun Coworking space within the Wework office with free daily tea/coffee and monthly community events
  • Opportunity to travel domestically to Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide where our programmes are delivered
  • Opportunity for international travel to Japan, Singapore and Vietnam to support Global Team.
  • A flexible working arrangement with a combination of working from home and in the office.
