The Chambers is seeking an experienced Full-time Functions & Events Supervisor.
The Chambers is located in Cairns City in a historic building filled with original character and friendly feeling. We offer Breakfast and Lunch 7 days a week and open in the evenings for private Functions and Events. Our food and drinks offering is beautiful and always delicious, providing friendly service is our top priority.
The Functions Supervisor role is a full-time position across a 5 day work week including weekends due to the nature of the work.
This role requires a person who has a hands on approach and ability to manage both administrative tasks as well as running of the event. The ideal candidate is well versed in the hospitality arena. Ideally management or supervisory experience in a cafe or restaurant would suit the role well. Experience bartending, making cocktails, serving tables and running a section in a busy cafe/restaurant is ideal. You will be both assisting the cafe during busy service as well as responding to event inquiries, coordinating future events as well as seeing events through from setup to pack down and follow up.
The successful candidate will have the following:

- Great administrative skills
- Thoroughly enjoy working with people and creating the perfect event
- Experience in all areas of front of house hospitality
- Detail orientated
- Friendly and warm personality
- Work well under pressure
- Fast paced
- Ability to upsell
- Must be have flexible availability to work around the functions schedule
- Must be available both days as well as late evenings (at times 1am finishes are required)
