Garment Technician - Byron Bay - 4 days per week.
Deiji Studios & Juem are in search of a motivated and highly organised individual with an extensive understanding of garment construction, fabric behaviour and apparel technical expertise across woven/knitted apparel and lingerie.
Your primary responsibility will involve analysing and interpreting technical specifications, sketches, and design concepts to develop comprehensive tech packs and precise garment prototypes. Proficiency in drawing and Adobe Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop, is highly regarded. Additionally, you will be required to attend all fit sessions and closely working with the Head Designer to ensure the fit, construction, quality and pricing of each garment meet standards and then effectively communicating this information to suppliers is crucial. Meticulous follow-up at every stage of garment production and proficient Excel skills are indispensable for successful task execution.
This role requires clear and consistent communication as you will collaborate closely with the Head Designer and offshore suppliers on a day to day basis
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Head Designer and offshore suppliers, ensuring clear and ongoing communication.
- Analyse and interpret technical specifications, sketches, and design concepts to create comprehensive tech packs and accurate garment prototypes.
- Demonstrate proficiency in drawing and digital prototyping using Adobe Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Attend fit sessions and work closely with the Head Designer to ensure the fit, construction, quality, and price of each garment meet standards from sketch to bulk production.
- Effectively communicate garment specifications, changes and requirements to suppliers in a timely manner.
- Maintain meticulous follow-up at each stage of garment production.
- Utilise proficient Excel skills for tracking and organising garment specifications and production progress.
- Coordinating the acquisition of Proto, SMS, PP, and shipment samples from relevant factories, meticulously verifying their accuracy in both construction and sizing.
- Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of supplier lead times to facilitate timely style approval, ensuring adherence to desired delivery schedules
- Maintaining the Critical Path with precision
- Updating the bill of materials, trims, development measures, grading, and all relevant style details for each garment
- Effectively communicating all approvals for garment trim, fabric, and colour, ensuring factory comprehension and achievement of our final product specifications
- Timely approvals of each sample stage from proto to bulk shipment sample
- Employing a solution-oriented approach and to promptly resolve any arising issues within timelines
- Ensuring precise and style-appropriate care labels, allocating them correctly on each garment and understanding the nature of fabrics
- Monitoring the development of each style in the style tracker to uphold adherence to the Critical Path timeline
- Following up with relevant stakeholders in cases where standards or finishes have not been met, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence of such issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Technology, or related field.
- Profound fabric knowledge encompassing drape, behaviour, various weaves, and sustainable alternatives.
- Strong garment construction knowledge, technical skills, and experience in clothing/lingerie.
- Exceptional pattern-making skills to enhance garment fit.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both internal team members and offshore suppliers.
- Proficiency in drawing and Adobe Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency in mathematics.
