GATEWAY ENGINEER (NV2)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Operations Specialist who is self-sufficient and has recognized specialist skills in supporting multiple products for multiple customers in order to maintain the availability and security of a service. This role is responsible for  delivering medium complexity work packages as part of customer implementation projects with the applicant being able to understand complex situations and activities and being able to communicate basic technical information to non-technical people.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Works within a team as an established systems/product/security specialist (e.g. detailed knowledge of the configuration of interlinked systems, implementing technical changes, building software regimes and contributing technically to service development) to support end users.
  • Follows established processes, releasing to the change control process verified, validated and documented enhancements to eliminate problems and proactively develop the service.
  • Recognizes opportunities to improve performance against Service Level. Acts as a point of escalation for other team members to resolve service delivery issues. Monitors performance through statistical reporting and analysis.
  • Works within the team or under guidance from the project manager with implementation of technical designs to meet service delivery requirements within own area of responsibility.
  • Establishes working relationships with customer’s organization to deliver and enhance the service.
  • Takes ownership in obtaining the information, evidence and data required to diagnose and resolve more complex problems (new and known), Escalates or gains support where appropriate. Proactively analyses, trends and reports on information (e.g. on performance service levels) in a timely manner to resolve problems, maintain and enhance service.
  • Trains and coaches members of the team to provide knowledge, assistance and advice. Works in a problem-solving team to resolve service issues. Able to stand in for team manager.

Requirements:
  • PV clearance highly desirable but not essential. Minimum NV2.
  • Experience or qualification across Gateway Services, including email, web, voice, chat, video, C2, SharePoint, (a mix of skills across multiple personnel to ensure coverage across these services will be acceptable); 
  • At least one resource with experience with Oracle Session border Controllers is Mandatory;
  • Prior technical Gateway experience, preferably within Defence, however, experience with other similar sized organisations is acceptable;
  • Understanding of Defence’s strategic network architecture and information systems security (one or more of accreditation, anti-virus, firewalls, security enclave segregation, vulnerability identification, cryptographic requirements, large scale storage, Disaster Recovery; 
  • SFIA 5 (SINT) Systems engineering experience; and (vi) Information technology Information Library (ITIL) Foundation or practitioner study of ITIL methodology.
Desirable skills:
  • Prior Defence Secret Gateway experience.
  • Understanding of CIOG’s Technical Assurance Framework.
  • Understanding of ITC Product Lifecycle from end to end.
