Join Salon HER's dynamic and growing team as the Salon's General Manager. As the Salon's General Manager, you will provide support to the Director, Salon Manager and salon team, ensuring an exceptional client experience.
Purpose of role
To provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and direction across all facets of the salon's business. The role aims to ensure the seamless integration and execution of people management, operational excellence, financial strength, education and training, business development, and marketing strategies. By fostering a positive culture, optimising operational processes, driving financial health, nurturing talent, and positioning Salon HER for future growth, the General Manager plays a pivotal role in elevating the salon's reputation, profitability, and market presence.
Key duties and responsibilities
People & Culture:
- Cultivate and enhance the positive culture of Team HER, ensuring that energy and morale remain high.
- Strengthen and expand the existing 360 review process, compiling and analysing data to monitor performance and KPIs.
- Develop performance plans for team members requiring additional support to achieve growth goals.
- Lead the recruitment process to attract top-tier talent.
- Coordinate development days and quarterly team events to bolster professional relationships.
- Address and manage performance-related issues and disciplinary processes effectively.
Operations:
- Refine existing operational processes, ensuring alignment with best practices for Salon HER.
- Collaborate closely with the Front of House (FOH) and Concierge teams to meet business KPIs and deliver exceptional client experiences.
- Oversee rostering, overtime, leave applications, and black-out periods for team scheduling.
- Establish protocols for handling client revision appointments and complaints.
- Ensure adherence to OH&S standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison with suppliers, negotiating optimal commercial terms for Salon HER.
Education:
- Implement the "Learn With HER" internal education program.
- Foster relationships with VERTO & TAFE to support apprentice teams.
- Enhance and expand the existing education offerings.
- Curate an education calendar, collaborating with internal and external educators.
- Oversee the development and launch of the Michael Kelly Education App.
- Coordinate travel logistics for education-related events.
Financial:
- Collaborate with the company bookkeeper to maintain strong financial health.
- Manage payment schedules, forecasting, and financial compliance.
- Develop monthly budgets for salon operations, stock, and vendor relationships.
- Conduct regular financial reviews with key stakeholders.
- Optimise service delivery within budget constraints, assessing team profitability.
Business Development & Marketing:
- Strategise future growth opportunities for Salon HER.
- Set measurable business goals and trajectories in alignment with the salon's vision.
- Collaborate with industry thought leaders to ensure best practices.
- Mentor the FOH team through strategic management conversations.
- Design and execute a comprehensive social media strategy, engaging all team members.
- Oversee influencer collaborations, brand partnerships, and digital growth strategies in conjunction with our designated salon support agency, Your Salon Support.
