Primary Position Objectives:
This position is responsible for a number of key focus areas including:
- Leading the Northern Livestock function to ensure consistent supply of cattle to our northern processing facilities and feedlots.
- Working collaboratively with operations, sales, and finance to ensure the ongoing profitability and success of the business regarding the market and business opportunities.
- Setting the strategic direction regarding the livestock purchased for both processing and feedlots.
- Develop and implement the Livestock strategy for the Northern business.
- Lead and engage a geographically dispersed Livestock team to ensure team engagement and company targets are achieved.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry bodies.
- Assess and implement strategies connected to a rapidly changing beef industry, including data driven analytics and sustainability.
- Collaborate with Southern Livestock to ensure understanding and consistency across the business.
- Travel as required to engage with team members, suppliers and other industry members.
- Provide technical livestock expertise to the team and the business as required.
- Provide livestock market forecasts and reports as required.
- Experienced senior leader with a demonstrated ability to lead change and engage a team.
- Ability to effectively influence and motivate a large team.
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills required to build and maintain key relationships.
- Excellent organisational planning and time management skills.
- Demonstrated computer literacy in excel, word and outlook.
- Must be energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a demonstrated focus on system improvement.
- Demonstrated extensive livestock knowledge gained from experience within the beef production and cattle industry.
