General Manager Operations
The General Manager Operations has the responsibility for the successful delivery of the strategic priorities, procurement and third-party governance and leading the business through change and innovation. Working cross functionally, this role is responsible for leading by Achmea’s values and providing leadership and direction to the teams of Client Experience, Claims and Portfolios & Underwriting.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the sub-functions of Third-Party Governance (procurement, client and vendor due diligence, corporate insurance, vendor performance monitoring) and Innovation and Change (system enhancements, projects, regulatory change and automation).
- Execute decision making by balancing the needs of the business with the strategic objectives, resources and time available to achieve a sustainable profitable portfolio in line with Achmea Australia’s purpose and vision.
- Enhance and uplift the data and reporting capabilities through Operations and supporting the reporting requirements of other functions, specific to the performance of the portfolio.
- Develop and implement a robust procurement and (third party) governance framework, meeting the information security requirements to support the needs of the business ensuring data management and business ownership, client and vendor due diligence is undertaken, and all vendors are subject to monitoring as required per the service level agreement and risk rating (i.e. personally identifiable information of employees or clients).
- Assist with the product development initiatives through oversight of the project management of new product changes in line with the product approval procedures, reviewing data to support changes and/or new cover options to assess return on investment.
- Responsible for the effectiveness of the Project Management Framework, design and implement the third-party governance monitoring processes.
- Lead and contribute to the data analysis of the portfolio to identify areas of exposure and underperformance, reporting regularly to the Insurance Committee, Executive Team and Board committees.
Achmea Australia is looking for someone with:
- Extensive technical insurance knowledge
- Legislative knowledge of general insurance
- Proven experience conducting financial oversight activities, analysing financial projections, and assessing risk
- Pricing risk knowledge and experience, desired not required
- Strong leadership skills to develop and maintain an engaged culture
- Ability to initiate, guide and implement process change in an agile environment
- Proven ability to think strategically and implement practically
- Excellent analytical skills to use data to identify financial performance improvements
Qualifications needed:
- 10 years experience in the financial services sector, coupled with tertiary qualifications related to the insurance/financial services industry
- Post graduate qualifications desired, not required
- Formal management training desired
