Tanis Australia, a leader in the confectionery machinery manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced General Manager of Operations to join our executive team in Sydney. Our company is renowned for designing and producing state-of-the-art machinery and accessories, predominantly for our Tanis T-Gel moulding machines and associated equipment. With a direct link to our headquarters in the Netherlands, we excel in project execution and client support, leveraging unique expertise to maintain our industry-leading position.
This role demands an individual capable of navigating the complexities of managing our Sydney production facility, which includes a committed workforce of approximately 60 professionals.
Responsibilities include:
- Leadership of the local Lead Team, incorporating key departments such as Finance, Engineering, Purchase, Production, and Commissioning.
- Enhancing synergy between the headquarters and the Australian production facility to ensure seamless operations.
- Overseeing plant operations to guarantee optimal performance, efficiency, adherence to quality standards, and safety compliance.
- Elevating operational performance and maintaining quality standards.
- Developing a strategic network with key local stakeholders.
- Managing financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting, with responsibility for the profit & loss statement, and presenting monthly outcomes to the CEO in the Netherlands.
The ideal candidate:
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
- Several years' experience in a similar role within the food manufacturing industry or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in full P&L ownership, successfully achieving financial targets, and driving profitability.
- Proven track record in leading and implementing S&OP processes, demand planning, and production scheduling.
- Strong background in operations management, including production, supply chain, quality control, maintenance, and Work Health and Safety.
- Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing methodologies, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop teams.
- Highly developed communication skills, written and oral.
- Ability to build strong and lasting relationships, internally and externally.
