The Queensland tourism portfolio drives a whole-of-government approach to grow the tourism industry and address its immediate and future challenges through implementation of the Towards Tourism 2032 strategy. 

As General Manager Policy, Partnerships and Events reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Tourism, you will provide strategic leadership, coordination and deliver initiatives that drive the growth of Queensland's tourism industry, address its immediate and future challenges, and align with government's priorities.  As the Leader you will champion thought leadership, policy development, and leading industry engagement.

Specifically you will be required to:

• Drive whole-of-government coordination of the Queensland Government's long and short-term tourism strategies, action plans and vision.
• Anticipate emerging opportunities and challenges including the consequences of public policy and engage in high level critical thinking in order to provide strategic advice and maintain Queensland's competitive advantage.
• Drive implementation of DestinationQ, Queensland's government-industry partnership to grow tourism, though stakeholder engagement and delivery of key tourism initiatives across the state.
• Represent the department and government in a range of high level regional, state, and national forums to enhance Queensland's profile and economic competitiveness and performance in relation to the tourism industry.
• Provide the highest level of strategic advice, information and guidance to Government, the Minister, and Director-General.
• Provide strategic leadership and influence to align policy platforms and programs at a whole-of-government level.
• Establish and maintain highly effective communication strategies and protocols and stakeholder negotiation and liaison activities across government.
• Ensure effective management and monitoring of the business area's budget, grant funding and grants administration in accordance with statutory responsibilities, government priorities and departmental policies and procedures.
• Provide strong, motivational executive leadership to the division.
