The PositionOur client is a leading Australian health care services provider, with operations throughout Australia. This Group Manager Safety and Wellbeing will be responsible for leading a team of safety professionals who are based through Australia. You will be responsible for developing, leading and driving the organisation’s safety and wellbeing strategy and activities to ensure all employees and customers are in a safe and healthy environment. This position consults closely with the workplace health & safety members across all sites to bring group alignment and works closely with senior managers across the group including people and culture and training teams. The position has seven Safety & Wellbeing Partners as direct reports.
This is a full-time, permanent position, that will require occasional interstate and local travel. To be successful in this role you will have a proactive approach to safety and wellbeing and enjoy being able to build relationships with stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage safety and wellbeing issues, including implementation of management systems, policies and guidelines and legislative and regulatory requirements;
- Engage senior managers and other stakeholders in the facilitation of enhancing capacity of the organisation’s leaders in relation to health and safety;
- Provide expert advice and support to the business to help lead behavioural safety and cultural transformation that delivers continuously on improved business performance;
- Collation of data and reports to inform senior leadership and management on safety and wellbeing across the organisation;
- Evaluation of incident notifications and when required undertake investigations to establish root cause, work together with managers to formulate control measure to correct behaviour or conditions to prevent reoccurrence;
- Partner with state partners and senior leadership team to build capability through effective relationship building, influencing and coaching.
- Demonstrated experience in a WHS Management position managing a team, aligned industry experience will come highly regarded;
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety or related business discipline;
- Demonstrated experience in effectively implementing a health & safety management system and demonstrated skills in reporting and developing action plans;
- Knowledge of contemporary safety issues and best practice, and the statutory and regulatory framework requirements regarding safety at work;
- Strong communication and ability to be a highly influential member of a team, across all levels of an organisation;
- Ability to engage with and influence workforces at various levels, and differing cultures and personalities.
